I had been beaten just two months prior, but I guess the cops were not competent enough to check their records, or know that I was telling the truth. Contrary to what I had been told as a child, the cops were not my friends.

I called the Bartlett Police because a person living in my house had previously inflicted harm upon me, and he had recently grabbed me, and told me that he was going to kill me. He had also previously banged on my bedroom door loudly, after he had been warned about the consequences of aggressive behavior. I frantically told the cops that a family member was trying to beat me and that he had not learned his lesson from last time. I had previously called the police to issue a warning, which they did, but for some reason they did not believe me the second time. When I had told the cops about my situation, and asked them if they could come talk to him, they started acting as if they thought I was 'making it up,' because they thought I 'wanted attention.' "We can come talk to YOU." "I guess we'll talk to him too if he's there." They were judging me because I sounded frantic when I was talking. If a woman told you that she had just been raped, would you judge her from the way she was talking? The person on the phone was a female, the person who came to the house was a short male, with blonde hair. This occurred in Fall of 2014. The male officer started asking me irrelevant questions, and was looking at my hands a noticeable amount. I also felt as if he was not giving much credence to what I was saying at all. He (cop) also told me that a person grabbing me, does not mean that he is going to hit me. Even though he (perpetrator) had said that he was going to kill me. The cop then tried to justify the perpetrator's actions by vehemently saying "but are these just some cultural traditions?!" Regardless of what a person may perceive to be a 'cultural tradition,' a 'cultural tradition,' does not come before the American law. He told me that he was not going to do anything, and that the solution was to talk to my parents about the situation. He then said that if this happened again, that that was when I should call the police. "That's when you call us." The parents, by the way, were aware of the initial beating, and had threatened to kick me out of the house, the first time I called the police.

I Was A Victim Of This Police Department and It's Predatory Policies. I Was Used To Fill A "Quota" for a rookie cop (even though they won't call it that)....They admitted to Marking My Car Tires And Stalking Me for miles before finally flicking their cherries as I was just about to leave their jurisdiction.....unfortunately I was too young to know my rights and fell victim to their unprofessional intimidation and bullying. They were not serving anyone but themselves for nothing more than self-promotion and recognition from their superiors.
